The National Tourism Organization (NTO) presented Montenegro’s tourist offer at the Balttour tourism fair in Riga, which lasted from Friday to Sunday.
The NTO stated that this fair is of great importance for presenting Montenegro as a year-round tourist destination in the markets of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, as it brings together about 900 exhibitors from 30 world destinations, five thousand tourism professionals from the Baltic countries, and around 30,000 visitors.
“The business meetings and B2B event organized on the first day of the fair brought together a record number of tour operators and businessmen from the Baltic countries. This was an opportunity for networking and presenting innovations regarding Montenegro’s tourist offer,” the statement said.
Helena Ruduša, the Honorary Consul of Montenegro in Latvia, attended the B2B event and stated that she witnessed a great interest in Montenegro.
Visitors were delighted to have the opportunity to taste Montenegrin cuisine provided by Plantaže company, as well as to win some valuable prizes provided by Budvanska rivijera, Portonovi, Gold Travel agency, and the NTO.
Milos Kovačević, the Manager for Outbound Markets at the Tourist Organization (TO) of Herceg Novi, said they participated in this fair for the first time and were extremely satisfied with the attendance and the interest of the audience and the economy.
“We presented our comprehensive offer to visitors, including summer and winter tourism, the advantages our city offers, as well as the indispensable cultural and historical attractions and events that characterize our city. The Baltic countries are definitely in our focus as a significant outbound market, we have made good contacts during the fair, and we expect to see results from our visit through an increased number of tourists from this market in the future,” said Kovačević.
Due to the growing interest in Montenegro’s offer from the Baltic markets, Air Baltic will continue flights from May 1st to October 29th, twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, on the Riga-Tivat route.
Enis Cikotić, co-owner of the Gold Travel agency, said they participated in the Riga fair this year, as they did last year.
“It is evident that the Baltic region is very interesting for us and is becoming a strategic area that sends an increasing number of tourists. This year, during meetings, we noticed a significantly higher interest, a better acquaintance with Montenegro’s offer, and inquiries about increasing the number of Air Baltic flights to our country. Several agencies interested in long-term partnerships have contacted us, and I believe that we will continue to work on the development of this market and bringing an increasing number of tourists from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia to Montenegro,” said Cikotić.
The interest in coming to Montenegro was evident from the crowds at the stand, and tourism workers confirmed that this year bookings started as early as January.
