The Montenegrin government has allocated €11 million for land restitution near Tivat Airport, Minister of Economic Development Nik Gjeloshaj announced. The government will fully finance the restitution and expropriation process, not the local authorities.
Gjeloshaj clarified that there were no changes in the concession terms during the tender process. On April 9, the government set a deadline for submitting bids and approved a contract requiring the concessionaire to pay the concession fee within 30 days, instead of waiting 12 months, to reduce financial risk.
During parliamentary discussions, opposition MPs raised concerns about the airport concession process. SD MP Branislav Nenezić asked about the government’s plans for land restitution costs, which unofficially are estimated at several tens of millions of euros, questioning whether the state is prepared for potential costs nearing €50 million.
URA MP Filip Adžić criticized the tender procedure, claiming it has already harmed Montenegro’s investment image, and opposed granting a monopoly over the airports, highlighting concerns over the concession price compared to the company’s annual profits.
