According to the third quarterly report of the European Travel Commission (ETC), Montenegro has achieved exceptional results in tourism this year, leading compared to other European destinations in the growth of the number of tourists compared to 2019.
As announced by the National Tourism Organization (NTO), the report states that Montenegro, with a growth of 14 percent, is in second place among European destinations in terms of the growth of generated tourist traffic compared to 2019.
After the excellent results in the second quarterly report of ETC for this year, where it was pointed out that NTO activities are responsible for the good positioning of the Montenegrin destination in key markets, successful promotional activities were also recognized in the new report of the leading European travel institution.
“Compared to the period before the pandemic, Europeans travel to a wider range of destinations in order to reduce costs – Turkey, Montenegro, Albania and Croatia are the best in terms of the number of overnight stays, compared to the level before the pandemic. The very successful campaigns of tourist organizations, especially of Montenegro, combined with the expansion of low-cost carrier lines, are responsible for that,” the report states.
Also, in the September report of the ETC, it is stated that Montenegro is in first place in terms of growth in the occupancy rate of accommodation capacities compared to September 2019, with a growth of 12.81 percent.
“Data from the beginning of the year show that one-third of destinations exceeded the level of foreign tourist arrivals achieved in the comparative period of 2019. Southern European and Mediterranean destinations, including Montenegro, contributed the most to Europe’s recovery. However, around 65 percent of destinations have not yet reached the level of arrivals achieved before the pandemic”, states the ETC quarterly report.
