British low-cost airline easyJet will connect Tivat Airport with six destinations during the upcoming tourist season: London Luton, London Gatwick, Berlin, Manchester, Bristol and Geneva, as announced by the office of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.
Spajić recently met with the management of easyJet and the CEO of Airports of Montenegro, Roko Tolić.
“We have ambitious plans to improve Montenegro’s air accessibility. In the near future, we will decide on the future of our airports and enhance infrastructure. We seek credible partners. Our goal is to make Montenegro significantly more accessible and competitive as an aviation destination,” Spajić said.
He highlighted the importance of the low-cost British airline’s extended flights this season, which will operate from early spring to the end of October.
“Seven months of operation is a strategic goal for Montenegro’s tourism industry and a step away from the traditional three-month tourist season,” Spajić added.
Representatives of easyJet reported that their passenger traffic in Montenegro increased from over 71,000 passengers in 2023 to more than 132,000 in 2024.
The CEO of Airports of Montenegro announced projections for this year:
“After the pandemic, the British airline easyJet has seen a 200% increase in traffic at Tivat. With six new routes announced for this summer, the airline will offer nearly 200,000 seats to potential passengers. They have also expressed willingness to discuss new destinations with us,” Tolić explained.
Today’s meeting with one of the company’s executives, Gary Butler, is part of the measures taken by Airports of Montenegro to ensure better connectivity for the country in the years to come.
“We are carrying out various activities with our aviation partners to ensure more routes during the upcoming tourist season. We also highly appreciate the recognition from Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and the Ministry of Transport, which approved changes to the Incentive Scheme to make ACG more attractive and increase traffic,” Tolić emphasized.
The Prime Minister and the management of Airports of Montenegro are confident that, through synergy with the Ministry of Tourism, the National Tourism Organization, and the economy, the set goals will be achieved.
In 2024, Airports of Montenegro achieved record results, serving nearly 2.9 million passengers, which is 15% more than the previous year and 8% more than in 2019, according to Spajić’s office.
