The construction of the Korita solar power plant in Bijelo Polje is one step closer to realization after the EE Korita company received approval from the Environmental Protection Agency for the Environmental Impact Assessment Report. This project, worth 200 million EUR, will be located near the border with Serbia.
The solar power plant will cover approximately 505 hectares, and the planned installed capacity is 280 MWp (DC side) or 240 kVA (AC side). The project will include the installation of solar panels and the construction of a substation. A 35/400 kV substation will be built on the site to connect the solar plant to the existing 400 kV transmission grid, and it will be connected to the Montenegrin electrical distribution system via a 400 kV power line.
The proposed substation for the solar plant will have a capacity of 300 MW, with an expected annual energy production of 331,306 GWh.
The project site is an undeveloped area, mostly consisting of pastures, and it is owned by the Farm-Moravac company from Bijelo Polje. The total area for the future solar power plant is about 505 hectares.
Earlier last year, EE Korita and the Montenegrin transmission system operator, CGES, signed an agreement for the construction of the infrastructure necessary to connect the solar plant to the transmission system. The contract includes planning, construction, and integration of the solar plant, which will have a capacity of 240 MW. The investor is Danish company European Energy, which has extensive experience in building solar and wind power plants.
