The coal mine produced 1.62 million tons of coal last year, which is about 13% less compared to 2023.
“Production was about 10% lower than planned,” states the report on the implementation of the energy balance for the previous year, published by the Ministry of Energy and Mining.
According to the document, 1.4 million tons of coal, or approximately 88% of the production, was delivered to the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant (TPP), while 15.67 thousand tons were delivered for other consumption within Montenegro.
“199.41 thousand tons of coal, or around 11% of the total production, were exported,” the document specifies.
The total turnover of oil derivatives for consumption in Montenegro last year amounted to 387.57 thousand tons, which is 31.61 thousand tons, or 7.54% less than planned.
“Compared to 2023, consumption increased by 10.96 thousand tons, or 2.91%. The highest increase in consumption was recorded for jet fuel, motor gasoline, eco-diesel, and heating oil, while a slight decline was noted for other derivatives,” the document adds.
The largest share in the total consumption of oil derivatives, expressed in tons, is held by diesel fuel, at about 77%, while jet fuel and mazut account for less than 1%.
“The largest importer and distributor of diesel fuel and motor gasoline is Jugopetrol, with a share of about 64% in this category of derivatives,” the document concludes.
