Bar recorded increased tourist activity during the main 2026 season, with both arrivals and overnight stays rising compared with the same period of 2025. The municipality registered 140,119 tourist arrivals, representing a 16% increase year on year. Overnight stays reached 1,041,439, up 11%. Individual accommodation recorded a further 48,869 arrivals in August, an increase of 6%, while overnight stays rose 3% to 420,172. The August figures do not yet include final data for collective accommodation.
Visitors from neighbouring countries accounted for the largest group, followed by tourists from Poland, Germany, Russia, France, Ukraine, the United States and Hungary. Bar is also recording increased activity in the cruise segment. During the season running from late March through October 26, the city is expected to receive 41 cruise ships carrying around 128,000 passengers. Approximately 15,000 cruise passengers and more than 5,000 crew members were projected to arrive in Bar during September alone.
The economic contribution of cruise tourism depends on spending by passengers in the city, available excursion capacity and the ability of local businesses to attract visitors arriving through the port. Cruise passengers do not automatically generate hotel revenue, while their spending can contribute to restaurants, retailers, transport operators and cultural attractions. Bar continues to face the challenge of extending tourism activity beyond the concentrated July-August period. Events, sports tourism and improved transport connections are identified as factors that could support activity during the pre-season and post-season.
