The Moroccan-Tunisian group Riofresh announced that it will develop business in Montenegro through the planting of agricultural products, seeing great potential in our country for such a thing.
The executive director of that company, Fatma Zramdini, said that in this way they will open their way to Europe. On the Fresh Plaza website, it is written that the choice fell on Montenegro because they see our country as a huge potential in terms of agriculture.
“This European country has a huge potential that is still underutilized. The quality of the soil, according to our analysis, is excellent, the water reserves are huge and they are also of very good quality with an exceptional level of calcium. The country also benefits from cultural and geographical proximity to the customers we target in Europe”, said Zramdini.
She stated that they plan to plant onions, potatoes, watermelon and other fruits depending on the demand on the 40-hectare area.
“We have not yet started exporting to the Gulf countries from Montenegro, since direct flights are seasonal, so we are considering this issue,” said the company.
It will also have 21 greenhouses with strawberries. As they stated, they already cooperate with Montenegrin markets Voli, Laković and Idea.
They also said that they had difficulties in finding labor, which they eventually hired from Bangladesh and Iran. They said that they need partners from Montenegro in order to develop their business.
