Nikola Milović, a member of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), highlighted that around 76,000 Montenegrin passports were registered at Tirana International Airport in just the first half of this year, marking a 13 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
He noted that over 120,000 Montenegrin citizens used Tirana Airport throughout the entire previous year. The airport has experienced a 268 percent increase in passenger traffic compared to 2019.
Milović expressed concern about Montenegro’s air connectivity, questioning how the country can maintain or grow tourism revenue when its own airports face challenges. He stressed the urgent need to modernize, professionalize, and expand the capacities of Podgorica and Tivat airports, along with increasing the number of available flight routes.
