The value of payment transactions processed in Montenegro during the 21 working days of June totaled 2.43 billion euros, according to data from the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG).
Of this amount, 94.24 percent was processed through the Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system, while the remainder was handled via the Deferred Net Settlement (DNS) system. The RTGS system processes individual transactions in real time on a gross basis, whereas the DNS system handles interbank payments on a net basis with deferred settlement.
A total of 1.38 million payment orders were executed, with 40.92 percent processed via RTGS. The average daily volume was 65,860 orders, and the average daily transaction value reached 115.63 million euros.
System uptime in June was 99.94 percent, with only seven minutes of downtime recorded during 11,450 minutes of operation.
In May, CBCG launched a new generation of the national payment system – RTS/X – fully aligned with ISO 20022 standards, marking the most significant technological and functional upgrade in Montenegro’s payment system since its establishment in 2005.
