The Tax Administration of Montenegro (PU) reported that gross tax revenue collection in the first half of the year reached €830 million, marking an increase of €12 million (1.5%) compared to the same period last year, and exceeding the revenue plan by €738,700.
Revenue from value-added tax (VAT) totaled €244 million, up €41 million or 20% from the previous year. Corporate income tax revenue reached €210.6 million, an increase of €18.5 million or 10%.
However, contributions collected amounted to €195 million, which is €81 million or 29% less than the same period last year. This decline was attributed to a legal reduction in pension insurance contribution rates.
Despite the drop in contributions, overall revenue collection continues to grow. The PU expects further increases during the summer tourist season through enhanced voluntary tax compliance and intensified inspections.
