Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) and the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts (CANU) have signed a new donation agreement, continuing their successful collaboration under the joint project “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Consumption Prediction for Power Systems.” The agreement was signed by EPCG’s Executive Director, Ivan Bulatović, and CANU President, Academician Ljubiša Stanković, during a ceremony held at the Academy’s premises.
The donation of €15,000 will be directed towards further strengthening research activities utilizing the potential of artificial intelligence to enhance the efficiency of Montenegro’s power system. The project has already demonstrated exceptional results in its first phase, surpassing initial expectations and contributing to more accurate consumption planning, optimized production, and improved system stability.
Ivan Bulatović, EPCG’s Executive Director, emphasized the importance of this type of collaboration.
“Elektroprivreda Crne Gore places particular importance on initiatives that combine science and practice, especially those involving innovative technologies like artificial intelligence. This project not only brings tangible benefits to our power system but also stimulates the development of the local scientific community. We continue to invest in knowledge, research, and young experts because we see this as the foundation for sustainable development,” stated Bulatović. The donation will fund the continued engagement of a young researcher, the development and testing of new technological solutions, and the strengthening of technical capacities at the ENEKO Center for Research and Development.
The next phase of the project will focus on further improving the existing model by integrating additional data and scenarios, as well as implementing new solutions for even more precise consumption predictions. Special attention will be given to involving young researchers and exchanging knowledge with both local and international experts, which will further contribute to strengthening the scientific research community in Montenegro.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Academician Igor Đurović, Head of the ENEKO Center, and Snežana Dragićević, Independent Consultant at the Center.
Elektroprivreda Crne Gore remains committed to the development and implementation of modern technologies with the aim of improving energy efficiency, digitalization, and modernization of the system in line with sustainable development principles.
