The Minister of Mines, Oil and Gas, and the Head of the Ministry of Energy, Admir Šahmanović, called for a meeting with energy company management to provide detailed reports on the current state of their operations. These reports should include investment overviews, progress on projects, challenges faced, and issues requiring institutional support, according to the Ministry of Mines, Oil and Gas.
Šahmanović emphasized the importance of the energy sector as a pillar of stability and development for Montenegro, highlighting the responsibility in ensuring its sustainability and progress. The goal is to define strategic priorities for the energy sector’s development and coordinate efforts for their implementation.
Key priorities include completing ongoing infrastructure and investment projects, opening new cycles in renewable energy development, aligning legislation with European standards, strengthening cooperation with the Energy Community, and advancing the National Energy and Climate Plan as part of the Green Agenda.
Energy company representatives presented their current activities, development plans, and ongoing or planned investments. They agreed that, despite progress, administrative barriers, particularly in public procurement, continue to slow down key projects. The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue these discussions for better coordination and synergies, ultimately contributing to the efficient and sustainable development of Montenegro’s energy sector.
