According to data from the Montenegrin Statistical Office (Monstat), the average gross salary in December was 1,010 euros, which is a 1.9% increase compared to November.
The average net salary in December increased by 24.3% compared to the same month in 2023.
The average gross salary in Montenegro for December was 1,210 euros.
Taking into account that consumer prices in December saw a slight decrease of 0.1% compared to November, real wages for the same period increased by 2%, as stated in the announcement.
Monstat also reported that the average gross salary for the entire year was 1,080 euros, while the average net salary amounted to 876 euros. Considering that consumer prices in 2024 increased by 3.3% compared to 2023, real wages for the year grew by 7.1%.
By sector, the average salary before taxes and contributions in December compared to the previous month saw increases in several sectors: administrative and support services (up 10.4%), real estate activities (up 9.3%), water supply, waste management, and similar activities (up 6.6%), public administration and defense, compulsory social security (up 4.5%), and wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (up 4.1%).
Other sectors with increases included arts, entertainment, and recreation (up 3.8%), agriculture, forestry, and fishing (up 3.5%), professional, scientific, and technical activities (up 3.3%), other service activities (up 2.8%), accommodation and food services (up 2.4%), transport and storage (up 2.2%), manufacturing (up 1.4%), information and communications (up 0.7%), education (up 0.3%), mining (up 0.2%), and electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (up 0.1%).
The sectors that experienced a decrease in the average salary before taxes and contributions in December compared to the previous month were: financial services and insurance (down 11.6%), construction (down 2.9%), and health and social care (down 1.1%).
