Economic and trade cooperation between Montenegro and Turkey has seen substantial growth, creating new opportunities for job creation, infrastructure development, and an improved standard of living, stated Ernad Suljević, Minister of Regional and Investment Development and Cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations. This progress, he noted, is the result of strengthened bilateral relations between the two nations.
Suljević made these comments during a panel discussion titled “Stable Relations and New Opportunities: Economy, Diplomacy and Education between Turkey and Montenegro”, organized by the Turkish Alumni Association MASAT.
He highlighted that Montenegro and Turkey share a long-standing friendship, mutual respect, and a shared vision for the future. “These relations are built on solid foundations, established through decades of cooperation in economics, culture, education, and diplomacy,” Suljević said.
The minister noted that economic and trade relations between the two countries are on an upward trajectory, with the number of Turkish investors and companies in Montenegro continuing to rise. This, he added, is creating new opportunities for job creation, infrastructure development, and raising the standard of living.
Suljević also emphasized the positive impact of bilateral economic relations on growth and stability, while enriching the knowledge and experience shared by both nations. “Equally important is our collaboration in the field of education, where our youth benefit from exchange programs and education in Turkey, bringing back valuable knowledge, skills, and inspiration, while building bridges of understanding between our cultures and peoples,” Suljević said.
He further pointed out that MASAT Montenegro is a perfect example of dedication to connecting young professionals and providing support for those eager to contribute to their societies.
The minister concluded by stressing that both countries could further strengthen their cooperation in areas such as new technologies, sustainable economies, investments, science, and culture. “Our vision not only includes maintaining existing relations but also expanding them into these new fields,” Suljević said.
Turkish Ambassador to Montenegro, Barış Kalkavan, also participated in the event, emphasizing that relations between Turkey and Montenegro are at an enviably high level. He attributed much of this success to the strong cooperation in the fields of culture and education between the two nations. He also noted the significant role that Montenegrin students who have graduated from Turkish universities play in fostering collaboration and understanding between the two countries.
Kalkavan remarked that these students have become real ambassadors of cooperation, helping to bridge the gap between the two nations.
