According to the draft DPP, the exploitation of mineral raw materials is foreseen at the deposits of Žuta prla and Brskovo, where there will be surface mines, and zinc, lead, copper and other accompanying metal sulfides will be processed.
Surface mines should be over 110ha in size and 320 meters deep. With the exploitation of surface mines, it is planned to create two tailings ponds, one with an area of 38.68ha and a volume of 64.25 million m³, and another with an area of 49.51ha and a volume of 40.84 million m³. For the sake of comparison, the previous tailings dump next to the main road in Mojkovac occupied an area of 18ha and had a volume of 2 million m³. Thus, the surface area of the two tailings ponds will be almost five times larger than the one in the city center, which was finally rehabilitated in 2011.
The construction of a reservoir on the river Rudnica above the planned surface mine Brskovo and the tailings of that mine is also planned, as well as the use of water from the mine for the needs of technological processes of ore processing, washing and the like. The discharge of water from the concession area into the Mine would be carried out some 2.5 km before its confluence with the Tara.
Let us remind you that the village of Brskovo is located north of the industrial zone of Mojkovac, where there are family households, and according to data, 207 adult citizens live there. They would all be evicted.
